About Us
Both personal and professional experiences were combined to compel Dan and Joanne (Devine) Donovan to design a program that provides comfortable and safe homes for those who have suffered a traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or have a neurological disorder and that cannot be properly cared for, or are not demographically suitable for a nursing home environment. They have carefully comprised a knowledgeable and compassionate management team that strives to provide the highest level of medical care, while imparting the Rose Meadow mission and vision daily. All of this along with strong partnerships with several state organizations and agencies, as well as, quality service vendors, allows Rose Meadow to excel in meeting the long-term care needs of our residents.
Our Founders:
The road that led the Donovan’s to the creation of Rose Meadow encompasses more than five decades of experience, starting with nursing homes. Dan Donovan is a third generation health care facility owner and Joanne has been an administrator in the health care field since the 1960’s.
Dan and Joanne shared a common concern for the number of young adults they had seen not able to have their long-term rehabilitative care needs adequately met in a nursing home environment, as well as, deficits in the social and recreational aspects of their lives.
In 1984 they founded Learning Services Corporation which eventually had fourteen specialized rehabilitative facilities throughout ten states. Although Dan is still a shareholder they have in a sense retired in order to focus on serving the needs of the 20% of adults with traumatic brain injuries that would never recover sufficiently to live independently and did not have an appropriate long-term option available to them.
New Hampshire was not only the Donovan’s home but a leader in helping to address some of the rehabilitative care problems throughout the country and is very sophisticated in managing its health care system. Joanne served on the New Hampshire Governor’s Advisory Council on Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries and on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire. Their passion to continue helping prompted them to design a unique facility right here in New Hampshire to meet the lifelong needs of the most severely injured. They wanted to provide supported residential services with 24-hour supervision in a comfortable home environment.
In 1995 they opened Rose Meadow Farm which became home to six residents. A few years later they built an addition in order to care for three additional residents. A few years after that they added a second addition to accommodate two more residents. The Farm is currently home to eleven residents, some that have been with us since we opened in 1995.
Due to the need for the unique services Dan and Joanne had made possible, in 2007 they opened Rose Meadow Garden just 2 miles down the road from the Farm, and increased the number of young adults they were helping live quality lives to twenty-five.
Dan and Joanne are still actively involved in the day to day operations of both facilities and continue to ensure the values that lead them to the creation of Rose Meadow are instilled in their staff. Their life long goal is that Rose Meadow continues to be a superior health care facility and a leader in the field of long-term care for people with neurological disorders, but more importantly “home”, in every sense of the word, for all of our residents.
